My Background

Picture
Born in the suburbs of Chicago but moved to Michigan at a young age where I graduated from Plymouth Salem High School.  After high school I attended a three year dipoma program to become a registered nurse.  Shortly after completion of the program I continued my education earning a Bachelor's degree in Health Care Administration.  While attending school for my Bachelor's degree, I worked as an RN specializing in the areas of pediatrics, pediatric intensive care and neonatal intensive care.  Upon completion of my degree was offered an opportunity  to work with an  organization specializing in health information systems.  This was my first exposure to utilizing automation in healthcare.  I quickly determined that although I had found my interest in health care, nurses in this arena were not accepted yet.   I returned to the clincal areas obtaining additional experiences in case management and quality.  The notion of combining my new found technical skills with my clinical knowledge became of great interest.  The door was opened further with the stimulus package which provides compensation for hospitals opting to take advantage of the program with a primary objective of improving quality and safety in health care which lead to my enrollment in the Medical Informatics program.   My passion is improving health care quality and patient safety through automation and currently have been afforded that opportunity in my current position working in data analytics.  More specific skills and experiences can be found under the tab labeled "Experiences and Skills".
